Counseling & Coaching Services
My name is Wyatt Bury. I'm Certified Life Coaching Practitioner, a Licensed Minister, and Licensed Professional Counselor. There are a lot of helping professions out there, because no one approach is best for everyone all the time. I offer both Licensed Professional Counseling and Christian Life Coaching because I find that these two services cover most of what people reach out to me for. Christian Life Coaching is for targeting spiritual goals, and Professional Counseling is best for targeting other life goals.
Licensed Professional Counseling, is about accomplishing mental health, relationship, wellness, and career goals. We can talk about spirituality in counseling if you want, and you may even see some positive improvements in it. I hope you do. About Me
My Passion in life is seeing amazing change in people's lives, even among folks that others had given up on. To do this, I trained and worked with, and learned from, professionals from many different helping professions.
My Experience includes managing at a locked in-patient psychiatric hospital, providing biblical counseling for folks in a long term recovery program, providing community psychiatric support treatment for adults with severe and persistent mental illness, directing and creating programs for a large nonprofit organization, and serving as a pastor while creating and overseeing a church care and counseling ministry. It has been an amazing journey!
My Education includes a Master of Arts in Counseling from Midwestern Seminary, a Bachelor of Science in Family and Human Services, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies from John Brown University.
More Personally, I'm happily married to my high school sweetheart, live in the Kansas City area, and enjoy playing geeky games with my friends and hilarious kids.
Meeting Time & Cost
I meet with my clients for an hour-and-a-half, while most professionals only offer one hour appointments. Why? I don’t take any insurance, so I’m not bound to insurance company restrictions of only 1hr/50 min meetings. Many of my clients notice that they get twice the benefit from a meeting by just adding 30 minutes. I think the difference comes down to the amount of active processing time in a session compared to the start-up and wind-down times at the beginning and end of a session where you check in, discuss progress, and scheduling. Hour-and-a-half meetings are better for my clients because because they get twice the active processing time in a session for only 50% time and money investment. I meet most of my clients Monday-Friday, 9-5, in my office in the Westport area of Kansas City.
